Ben’s trip to Kalispell…
Ben’s dad and I conspired behind Ben’s back to get him the best birthday present ever! A ski trip to Montana! He left earrrrly one Sunday morning and arrived back the following Sunday afternoon. He skied. skied. and skied some more. Sunday morning, he arrived in beautiful Kalispell and was greeted at the airport by his dad, Bill, and his step-mom, Tina. He was treated to a yummy lunch back at Tina’s house in Whitefish and then a walk around Whitefish into the shops and cute stores. It was a great evening catching up and spending time with Bill and Tina who he hadn’t seen in 2.5 years… too long.
On Monday, Ben, Tina, and Bill met up with Jamie, Ben’s brother, and headed up for some skiing at Blacktail Resort. They had a fantastic time!
On Tuesday, Bill and Ben drove up to Big Mountain and got to ski away the whole day! Perfection!
On Wednesday, he met up with Jamie and his mom, Julie, at his mom’s new cabin! They also drove over to the town of Big Fork for a nice walk, talk, and exploration. Afterwards a yummy dinner and more fun at his mom’s house.
On Thursday, another awesome ski day with his dad and Jamie at Blacktail Mountain. Amazing powder.
On Friday, dad and Ben headed back up to Blacktail. Followed by a hot tub soak. Tried out the Kalispell Brewing Company. And finished with some pizza at Mooses. Back at Tina’s house, they played some dice and sipped whiskey. What a day!
On Saturday, Ben met up with Chris, his buddy, and his wife Ashlee, at Swift Creek Cafe. They then headed up to Big Mountain and met up with their buddy, Ian. After a full morning of skiing they grabbed some nachos at Hellroaring Saloon. They finished the day skiing some fresh powder.
And Sunday, he left Kalispell bright and early and made it back to Anchorage where he rallied Ruby and his truck and headed back to Wasilla.
Meanwhile in Anchorage…
While he was gone, I stayed at my parent’s house in Anchorage and had a little bit of fun on my own!! I ran lots of errands, went shopping, got my car work done, hung out with lots of friends and their baby-boos, spent time with my wonderful parents, and went to several appointments. Whew, it was a wonderfully full week! On Saturday, my mom, sister and I got on our dancing spirits and watched Mama Mia at the Performing Arts Center. It was amazing. We had seen Sister Act and My Fair Lady in 2015 but Mama Mia was by far the most amazing.
On Sunday, after a great day at work, I went over to my friend, Carolyn’s house, and hung out with her and her foster boo. Dinner and good talks… is there anything better? On Monday, dinner with my parents, playing with my favorite niece, Emma, and a hot tub party with mom… amazing!
On Tuesday, a massage! What! This mouse really was playing! Followed by some shopping and then a hike with Corrie, Millie and Rudder! It was a very relaxing day!
On Wednesday, Ruby and I both got our teeth cleaned (at different dentist offices, of course). And shockingly, her’s was much more expensive than mine; (it also took a lot longer and was much more traumatic). Poor thing! I also got to meet up with Becky and her baby boos for another great walk in some wintery wonderland-y woods.
On Thursday, after another great day at work, I met up with Rachel for some hot drinks at Steam Dot. It was fantastic catching up while sipping my almond chai. Then an evening with my parents and a great movie. On Friday, an evening with Ruby. We walked. We snuggled. It was relaxing!
On Saturday, after work, I met up with my favorite hiking partner, Cathy and we hit up some trails followed by dinner and more laughs! She is just the best.
And on Sunday, I headed back to Wasilla to meet up with my favorite person who had arrived earlier that morning. It was a great reunion, reliving our days and times apart. While it is always a blast to catch up with old friends and stay with family, I sure did miss my best friend. And it was good to be back together.
